Moving Object Localization Using Sound-Based Positioning System with Doppler Shift Compensation
Sound-based positioning systems are a potential alternative low-cost navigation system. Recently, we developed such an audible sound-based positioning system, based on a spread spectrum approach. It was shown to accurately localize a stationary object. Here, we extend this localization to a moving object by compensating for the Doppler shift associated with the object movement. Numerical simula...
متن کاملEffect of the photon's Brownian Doppler shift on the weak-localization coherent-backscattering cone.
We report the first observation of the dependence of the coherent-backscattering (CBS) enhanced cone with the frequency of the backscattered photon. The experiment is performed on a diffusing liquid suspension and the Doppler broadening of light is induced by the Brownian motion of the scatterers. Heterodyne detection on a CCD camera is used to measure the complex field (i.e., the hologram) of ...
متن کاملSupergranulation Waves Detected in Surface Doppler Shift
Recently Gizon, Duvall, and Schou (2002) suggested that supergranulation has a wave-like component. In this paper I show that the same phenomenon can be observed using surface Doppler shift data, thereby confirming their observations. I am also able to measure the dispersion relation to lower wavenumbers and to extend the results for rotation and meridional flows beyond ±70 • latitude.
متن کاملDistributed localization using acoustic Doppler
It is well-known that the motion of an acoustic source can be estimated from Doppler shift observations. It is however not obvious how to design a sensor network to efficiently deliver the localization service. In this work a rather simplistic motion model is proposed that is aimed at sensor networks with realistic numbers of sensor nodes. It is also described how to efficiently solve the assoc...
متن کاملOptical Doppler shift with structured light.
When a light beam with a transverse spatially varying phase is considered for optical remote sensing, in addition to the usual longitudinal Doppler frequency shift of the returned signal induced by the motion of the scatter along the beam axis, a new transversal Doppler shift appears associated to the motion of the scatterer in the plane perpendicular to the beam axis. We discuss here how this ...
